Byrdie Boy
Byrdie Boy is our series here to break outdated perceptions of men and beauty. We’ll be highlighting the routines, product picks, and musings of cool guys with a unique POV, so our male and man-aligned readers can learn about skincare, makeup, and hair from a trusted, inclusive source. Next, Elliot Page on his signature scent and what’s inspiring him.
The best time of the year to go to the movies has arrived, with awards season on the horizon and all the contenders ready to show their stuff to theatergoers. And yet… there’s still some goodness out there that you can watch from the comfort of your own home.
This September, Gucci released a short film to showcase its SS26 runway collection. Spike Jonze and Halina Reijn directed the project, which was called The Tiger and starred a fringed-out Demi Moore as Barbara Gucci, Head of Gucci International and Chairman of California. The clothes were gorgeous, of course, and the rest of the cast was equally impressive.
“It was so fun. I mean, getting to work with Spike and Halina was a total dream. And to play this business bro nepo baby was just a fun, unique role. It’s not a part I’ve necessarily played before,” Elliot Page, who starred as the handsome heir to the Gucci empire, tells Byrdie. “What a dream job, truly. So fun.”
To create and to watch! And despite smell-o-vision not being invented yet… did you by chance catch a whiff of something surprisingly sensual while tuning in? I wouldn’t be surprised if you did, because Gucci is also introducing a new fragrance this season: Guilty Absolu de Parfum for Men. Page is a face of the warm and spicy scent, and—though his own relationship to fragrance is a little less intense—both he and his character relates to a lot of its facets.
The scent was created to “embody the art of refinement” with notes of orange flower absolute, rum accord, and red chili pepper.
“When I smelled it, it did have a very classic nostalgia to it. It made me think of going out in the evening, a nice dinner. Classic, sensual vibes,” Page explains. “How is classic a smell? I guess that could mean different things to different people.”
Sure, but you probably get the vision: a night out, coffee and rum notes, a sense of depth. Ahead, discover how the scent fits into Page’s routine—and what fragrance means to this Byrdie Boy, specifically.

His Strongest Scent Memory
“Mine’s probably cheesy, but whenever I’m in the Northeast and I smell the ocean I’m immediately home. It’s that salty air. There’s just immediate nostalgia for climbing on the rocks as a kid, you know?”
The Scents That Feel Most Like Him
“This new one has a coffee kind of vibe, which I love. I also love sandalwood. Just very earthy and musky scents… that’s kind of what I relate to and like the most.”

His Favorite Smells
“Ocean, sandalwood, coffee in the morning.”
His Morning and Evening Must-Dos
“I guess it’s sort of the same—snuggling with my dog or my girlfriend [Julia Shiplett]. My tiny awesome little dog is starting my day and ending my night.”

How Fragrance Fits Into His Routine
“I’m not necessarily a daily wearer [of fragrance]. It’s more like going out in the evening, or going to an event, or something like that. It feels like a part of finishing a look.”
What He Does When He’s Not Working
“You’ll learn that I am rather obsessed with my dog, because I would say one of my favorite things to do is walk my dog. I’m definitely a park guy, so I’m in the park with my dog. I love catching up with my friends. Having time and space to just get to sit and read is such a pleasure. You know, those sorts of things really are what I love to do.”

Where He’s Finding Inspiration
“Spending time with community and friends and being inspired by them. I’m inspired by books that I read and inspired by people standing up for collective humanity right now.”
His Favorite On-Set Grooming Lessons
“I feel like I’m lucky. I’m working with people who typically give me good tips. I think mostly it’s been about skincare, and I feel like I’ve gotten much better and more aware of those and just [grooming] in general from wonderful hair and makeup people. I’m better at taking care of myself now in my life. That’s been really nice.”
What He’s Looking Forward To
“I was lucky to be a part of The Odyssey this year. I guess that comes out next year, but it’s gonna be a pretty incredible project, so I feel really lucky to have been part of that. A lot of right now is sort of producing with the company I have, Pageboy Productions. I’m wanting to start writing, so hopefully I’ll set some time aside for that. That’s the plan right now.”
