As 2025 comes to a close, we’re already looking ahead to some of the 2026 shoe trends. Next year is less about brand-new trends and more about the rise in popularity of some of the more micro trends we’ve seen this year (yes, that includes the ballet sneakers we’re seeing everywhere right now). Which means we can not only plan for a stylish New Year, but also start wearing these trendy shoes ASAP. 

2026 Shoe Trends at a Glance

Stylists predict a return of retro platform shoes, which, of course, include platform heels but also extend to Mary Janes, loafers, and other shoe styles. They also say 2026 is all about woven materials (think crochet and leather!) for added texture to even the simplest of outfits. And, if you’ve fully accepted the return of knee-high boots, you’ll be excited to learn that the flat sole styles of the early 2010s are back, baby—and with an equestrian aesthetic, too. 

Ahead, we break down the biggest 2026 shoe trends and share the styles we already have on our wishlist. 

Sculptural Heels 

According to celebrity stylist Samantha Brown, 2026 is all about the details—and we can expect to see sculptural heels take center stage. “Think geometric and chunky soles that feel futuristic but minimalist,” she explains.

In addition to sculptural heels, Brown says, “platforms will dominate in 2026.” This mostly refers to heels, but you’ll see the style show up in sneakers, clogs, boots, and more.

Woven Materials 

Bohemian styles are only getting more popular in 2026, with woven materials catching our eye. “Woven materials like leather and crochet will be dominant,” says Brown. “These are a compliment to the bohemian-leaning pieces we’ve seen in 2025,” she confirms.

Classic Clogs

The woven materials trend also brings the return of the classic clog (not the Birkenstocks and Crocs we’ve already stomped around in this year), with wooden bases and a 1970s aesthetic. “We will see wedges as a part of this trend as well,” says Brown.

If you’ve loved the chunky sneaker trend, Brown says these are slowly on their way out and being replaced with something a bit daintier. “Sneakerinas, aka the ballet-inspired, delicate sneaker, is very in,” she notes.

Minimalistic Riding Boots 

We’ve seen knee-high boots take off in 2025 and, as the year went on, become increasingly equestrian-leaning. With that in mind, Brown says you can expect more of the same in 2026, with “clean, minimal riding boots” taking over our shoe storage. These boots feature a flat heel and knee-length shaft and can be styled with “everything from denim and blazers à la Ralph Lauren to easy dresses, jean shorts, and everything in between,” says Brown.
